Now I use the MMO setting under the keyboard options. With that setting I seem to mostly have to use the mouse to set ground target location which feels very clunky.

Now here comes oen of the big "however", the tab targeting here is horrendous. In WoW it starts with the closest enemy, in FFXIV it seems like it's chosing targets randomly.
